Default Turning Off Email While Roaming W/8703e

Please Login to Remove!

Is there a way I can turn off the Blackberry email stuff (non-BES setup) on my 8703e while I'm in Canada. I really only want to be able to get calls and texts and not all my emails while I'm roaming in Canada for a week.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

With the 4.2 OS you can selectively turn off data (if that helps).

Question

ok , but ... how do u turn off all data and keep only the phone calls and text messages coming .... I turn on only phone profile but messages still come in and I still transmit data .... only difference is I don't get notified of the messages .... so how do you turn off all data ?

p.s. by the way , i use both an 8700c ( 4.2 ) and ( 4.1 ) on my 7290 which I switch from time to time.

With OS v. 4.2, go to options, then mobile network...

See help on blackberry for details. I think turning data off leave only phone and SMS. Browser, email, MMS etc...all data function disabled.

Since you have an 8703e (for which 4.2 is not yet available), you might be better off just asking your provider to temporarily reactivate your previous phone and leave your BB at home. This, of course, assumes you still have your previous phone.

If you can't do that and you're on BIS Only, you might try modifying your filter settings so that messages aren't forwarded to your device. That should minimize any potential data charges.

Login to your web interface and check the "Do not forward to device" for each of your e-mail accounts. Then just don't lookup any websites while you're there and that should work.
