Disable send (call) key

Hi everybody,
i would like to know if anyone knows how to disable the send key.
Let me explain deeper:
when writing applications for BB, you will always get the main Blackberry functions while launching the applications, like hanging up, calling or recall the menu.
I need to write an application which has to perform some actions while pressing the send key, without letting the phone start a phone call.
Any hint?
