Default The Username or Password is not Correct. Please correct the entry-SoFrustrating BES5

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I have the following environment:

BAS Server 01
BAS Server 02
BES Primary
BES standby

Just upgraded to 5.0.2

on Windows Server 2008 Standard

It was working fine for few days and all of a sudden when i come to office and try to login ... and the error comes ...


The Username or Password is not Correct. Please correct the entry

Till 4 hours have been wasted trying solutions from this forum and other but to no avail ...

Please help ....

Are you using BAS or AD logins? Can someone else login?

AD logins and no one can login

You could try to revert the BAS administrator login to local/Blackberry Administration service. Then, after beeing able to login again you could check what the problem is.

That should work like this:
shutdown the Blackberry Services
make a backup of the BESmgmt Database
open the database BESmgmt with an SQL tool.

look for the BASUserAuthenticators Table
There should be at least one entry:
UserID: (some number, the UserID of the admin)
AuthenticationTypeID: 0 (blackberry Administration service)
AuthenticationInstanceID: 0
ExternalAuthenticatiorID: (leave blank)

The BasUserRoles Table:
UserID: (some number, the UserID of the admin)
RoledID: 1

The BasUsers Table:
UserID: (some number, the UserID of the admin)
login name: admin
LoginPassword: -4dde1a3824a0f3a1 (this is the hash for the password "12345")
DisplayName: System Administrator

close, save, start the Blackberry services, and try to login with "admin" and "12345" for the password using the Blackberry Administration Service.

Does that help ?

Just out of curiousity edwintg were you also running BAS services on the HA BESs? Do you have DNS round robin for the two BAS instances (and if running on BES those as well)?

So far No Joy for me. Still unable to login. What is unclear to me is I don't have an Admin user, only the BESADMIN, so do I modify that account or create new? I modified the BESADMIN (USERID 1) to the instructions (except I didn't change DisplayName from BESADMIN to System Administrator).

I fixed it by setting up in the hosts file
put in the fully qualified domain name and the IP of
Domain Controller 01
Domain Controller 02
it iwas in KB 18651 and the problem was caused by some demotion /promoation of domain controllers that effected LDAP.
It fixed it for me
