Hi,

Is anyone else noticing that the new RIM Twitter update is killing batteries??

My BB was wonderful battery life until I installed this today, and now it is really bad and even device gets hot!!!!

any application that constantly polls for a new message will kill the battery. also if your in a bad area the phone will also keep searching for cell serivce.
GPS , IM and even some email services.

Twitter is one that does constantly poll.

It's just this new version. I was running the pervious version for ages with no issues...

I am appealing to people who have just upgraded to 1.0.1.7 from 1.0.1.4

I'm using 1.0.1.6 (on OS6) with no battery problems.

Hmmm, I wonder what's happened to it then :(

Only thing that changed was Twitter upgrade to 1.0.1.7 from 1.0.1.4 and battery life is screwed!

I have mine set to refresh every hour and notify on replies and mentions (but not on new tweets).

You could always remove it and see if it makes any difference over the next 24hrs...unless you've already done that.

I have been using 1.0.1.7 since it updated and no extra battery drain for me either. I refresh every 10 min, but just changed that to one hour.

Seem reasonable to refresh less often. I think siJ2000 might have his set to often.

I am using latest OS6 beta for 9700 and latest twitter app.
No problems here, if anything, the battery life on OS6 is far better IMHO.
