Default New Pearl 8130 OS 4.3.0.65 (Telus Mobility) released

Please Login to Remove!

The 4.3 device original OS is out for Telus Mobility Pearls.
This is not for a 8100 Pearl.

App Ver: 4.3.0.65 (Verizon shipped w/4.3.0.60)
Platform Ver: 3.1.0.34 (Verizon shipped with 3.1.0.32)

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E607FE7CC0E1A0

Select Blackberry 8130 from the dropdown and click Next. Then click the "Download" link that appears at the bottom of the page.

Instructions for installing on any CDMA 8130 from any carrier:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed. It's 4.2 SP2 and can be downloaded Click Here. or from the Verizon site linked above.
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

You're welcome...thanks for your improvements to my post.

I'm hoping this will bring some relief for the Verizon Pearl, including removing the need to confirm standby mode!

Hopefully it includes these two key ones:

- Confirmation prompt to put BB in standby when pressing Mute (remove prompt)
- Can't initiate Bluetooth calls when BB is in holster on standby (allow call initialization via BT when in holster on standby)

Would be nice if it helps w/the of the memory problems and browser lockups that some have been reporting...looking forward to your feedback!

I believe the correct response would be:

"Woo-hoo!"

One small step for ease of use...one giant leap for peace of mind. ;) Thanks!

Would it be of any benefit to use the Telus OS posted above for a Sprint 8130 with OS 4.3.0.71? Thanks, BB newbie.

The Sprint OS is a later version, so it would be a downgrade for you.

Thanks, that is what I figured. Dumb question, but can the OS effect the battery life, as the Sprint 8130 has a pretty poor battery life. Thanks.

If you put the phone in standby (either manually using the Mute button, or via a BB holster w/the "standby magnet" in it), can you start a call via a BT headset?
This works... I can make a call via Bluetooth headset (voice dialing) while in my holster

Quote:
To put the BB in standby, you can press and hold the Mute key on the top of the phone. When you do that, does the BB prompt you to confirm standby, and is the default Cancel or OK?
Works like my older GSM Pearl... Press/Hold Mute... you get a brief warning that its going into standby.. then the screen goes blank...

still testing the rest

Sure it could, but you have a much later Pearl OS than any out there that I've heard of (Verizon has 60, Telus 65, Bell 66, you have 71). So if there is an OS fix related to battery life, it doesn't appear to be out yet.

To keep this thread on topic, there's a thread on battery life at the link below...you might want to read it and post your info (usage, battery life you're getting, things you've tried, etc.).

Yep, standby mode easier to get into...
Seems a little snappier. Not waiting for the cursor to move...
More free memory...
