Ok, can someone explain or reference a document that explains how the address book synchronization works? The mailbox has an option to delete on the mailbox/handheld but it seems like the address book sometimes will delete them from the blackberry when deleted from Outlook and sometimes will re-add them to outlook when deleted from outlook (to synch it with the blackberry).

Which way is it supposed to synchronize? And when does it delete from the mailbox/blackberry? Thanks for the clarification!

It's supposed to synchronize both ways.

As with most synchronization methodologies, you can set one of the endpoints to be the "master" in the event of a sync conflict. Basically, you're deciding which change "wins" in the event that the same record is altered in both endpoints.

What about the deletes? If I delete a contact from Outlook does it assume the Blackberry is correct for that contact and vice versa? Just doesn't make sense then why when deleted from Outlook it would re-populate back into outlook because they are still in the blackberry..

How do you do that? I haven't seen a way to set the 'master' except in the messages..

If you delete from one spot, it deletes it from the other.
That's what synchronization does. If yours isn't doing that, then it's broken.
Check to see if Wireless Synchronization is enabled.
Address Book > Options > Wireless Synchronization = ?

That setting is only for messages. I should have been more clear on that.
With Address Book, it's straight two-way wireless synchronization... where everything in one endpoint is reflected in the other endpoint.

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, the 'wireless synchronization' is set to "yes"....

The help with the BlackBerry Desktop Manager has a few (actually) useful areas in there, you may want to skim threw it when you get a moment.

Note: I am not trying to be mean, I myself have looked threw the help of BlackBerry Desktop Manager a few times.

Actually, if you log into the BES and got to the Edit Properties for the user in question. Then select PIM Sync from the list.

You will then see that most Sync fields can be changed with the following.

Synchronization Type - Bidirectional, Server to Device, Device to Server.
Conflict Resolution - Server Wins, Device Wins

You may find that the user has a change in here that is causing the issue.

Wireless Calendar Sync seems to be a hot topic of late ... I guess it always has been, but I've been hearing and seeing more problems with it. I spent 3 hours going through logs yesterday to open a call with RIM and go back and forth a few times with the ball sitting in their court.

Enough of my rant ... What version of BES and HH OS are you running? (please include SP & MR level)

Very good points.

I assumed the user did not have access to BES, and could only adjust handheld config.
Never occurred to me to adjust the BES profile for the user.

Not sure if it's a mis-type, but this thread is about Wireless Contact Synch..Either way, I'm on Exchange, with BES 4.1.4.15 and the user in question has an 8830 on 4.2.2.148

I also looked at the PIM Sync settings for this user, and the Synch is enabled, the type is bi-directional, and on conflicts the server wins...
