Default Wifi issues with new 8900

Please Login to Remove!

I am not having a "connectivity" issue because when I go and set up my network by bb finds the network and the name shows up in "manage connections" and i can see my network name on the home screen. I can also see my blackberry on my router config screen on my computer.

However my problem is consistency with UMA staying on. At best it is very spotty and holds UMA for only a brief period. For instance it will show UMA and I will try to browse the internet and nothing happens...the status bar just stalls. When I log out and go back to the home screen I am back to EDGE with one bar. If my bb sees the my network why does it display my network name and stay on EDGE? What is the point of that? It seems that the only time I actually get UMA is when I reset my network connection I can get UMA for like 10 minutes and I have successfully browsed the net while on UMA only after the reset for short interval. Then the UMA just disappears?????

This sucks because coverage on EDGE is at best 2 bars in my house. UMA when it has worked has been awesome. How can I get my phone and router communicating so that these issues cease? I have tried just about every tweak I have read about here and across the web and nothing has provided a permanent solution.

HELP!

router: 2wire
BB: brand new 8900
patience: getting thin

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried turning off the mobile network and just have wifi active?

Also, do you have wifi preferred selected in options / mobile network?
