Default SMS & MMS Folder Slow

Please Login to Remove!

I got my 9630 7 days ago for Verizon. I have it set to delete messages every 15 days. I close all apps. The only app I had running was AIM. While it was running, I noticed a lag whenever I'd open an SMS/MMS and a lag when I would hit the R key to respond. When I closed AIM, this problem ceased for a few minutes, but as I began to receive more SMS/MMS, it came back. Is there anyway to help out the lag? It's annoying to sit there and wait for the SMS/MMS to open for about 2-3 seconds after I select it.

Thank you.

How would I go about doing that? I've noticed that if I'm not using it for a little while and go back to the SMS and MMS folder, I don't have a lag, but it eventually comes back.

Will that erase my data? I haven't installed and sync my BB with desktop manager. Also, I realize it happens with contacts I have a longer history with. Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forums.

It will not erase your data. I suggest installing DM and creating a backup, and then backing your device up regularly.

Try going to Options > SMS Text and changing the Number of Previous Items to say 5 and see if that helps.

I've done all this, and I still have a lag with contacts with long history when opening and responding mainly to SMS (not so much MMS). I appreciate the help so far.

Go into your SMS folder, highlight a message from that contact, press the menu key and select Search Sender. That will list all messages from that contact. You could then press T to go to the top and press the menu key and then select Delete Prior.

This WILL delete all messages from this contact. But it should speed things up for you.

Quickpull seemed to do the trick for now. If I encounter the problem again, I'll delete all prior from that sender. Thanks everyone.
