IMEI code doesn't work with Rogers?

I am trying register my IMEI number with Rogers for an unlocked Verizon 9650 but they say the number I give them is invalid. I cannot use my data package at the moment and they think it's because I haven't given them my IMEI number. Is that true? Or is something wrong with the way I unlocked my phone? I have it set up with the Rogers wireless network and activated the phone so now it says my number after typing ##000000....what's going on with my phone? I am currently on hold with Rogers for the fourth time this weekend, hopefully someone out there has had a similar problem and was able to fix it! Thanks in advance!
