After reading the other post about upgrading the firmware in the TomTom I'd thought Id give it a try. When I check my version it said I had 5.0 and when I upgraded it said I had 5.2 so I tried it again and got the 5.42.

I then tried to sync to the BlackBerry and it popped right up, it even pulled the phone book. The only reason I got the TomTom 700 was for this, after 3 months of trying I'm totaly stoked

After reading this post, i downloaded the TomTom upgraded (5.43) and was able to finally to sync my 7100t, although i could not transfer my phone book. It kept saying unable to transfer. Anyone having the same problem ( I have v4.0.2.49)?

I too am having this problem. I just bought a TomTom Go 700 today with plans of using it with my BB7100t. I wasn't able to get it to connect to the 7100t at all until updating the TomTom to 5.42 from 5.201. I am now able to get it to connect and use it as a handsfree device...but it fails to retrieve the phone book. I am not sure if there is some setting on the BB that prevents a BB device from retrieving the address book or not, I am unable to find any settings that appear to do so.

I should have expected that the data side wouldn't work with the BB, this is a dissapointment. If the address book doesn't work the TomTom is going back and I will go for a less 'feature rich' nav device.

The tomtom started finally pairing with the BB's when they updated their firmware just about a month ago. You'll need a handheld software of 4.1 or later on your BB to get the addressbook to sync. So with the newer handhelds like the 7130, 8700, etc you have 4.1 shipping on them. As soon as tmo releases 4.1 for the 7100t then the addr book will sync with that device as well.
