Thanks for the advice, I might get the one w/ mic just cause it has a pause/play button. Really wish these things would sell in local store since you have to pay 6 bucks on shipping for a 10 dollar product. Sticking with my apple in-ear headphone .

Yes, shipping is a drag. As I recall, Seidio mails small items like that in a padded envelope. But they have to pay someone to package it, address the envelope, etc. so they have to watch costs. On multiple items they put them into a small box.

RIM is worse. I bought their stereo ear buds. Item weighed all of one ounce or less. They shipped it in a 7 x 7 x7 box. What a waste of trees.

On this adapter you can't use the mute switch since it will cause the sound to come back out of the 8100 itself rather than the headphones. The answer/end button on it will pause the media player. Only drawbacks are the rather long cord it adds and the little piece that houses a volume control, mic, answer/end button, and microphone mute switch.

From this experience I am guessing that any adapter made for Sprint and Verizon (non-smartphone) music phones should work with the 8100 too. The ones made for smartphones like the Treos and Windows Mobile phones will (likely) not work.
LG SGEY0003602 Stereo Headset with 2.5mm - 3.5mm Adapter

that's the LG one you're referring to...

i got that headset w/ a free Muziq phone that Sprint sent me... works totally great! and i love that the mute button pauses the media player. combine that headset adapter with the short piece from Sony's MDR-71ex or whatever and you've got a great setup. the white/grey combo even matches my white Pearl ;).

Default Canada - Where to buy?

Hi

I wanted to get the 2.5 to 3.5mm converter for the 8200 and I couldn’t find a place in Canada

I did look at the links provided at the beginning of the thread and they are US stores. If I order the converter Seidioonline.com its going to cost $30ish

Thanks

I'm a little lost as well but I think the point of this thread was to identify an adapter that will let you listen to music on your Pearl (2.5mm) with your normal headphones (3.5mm). If so, the adapter I use, which has worked PERFECTLY for about 6 months now was purchased off of Amazon for less than $10 (including shipping). Here's a link:

Amazon.com: 2.5mm Cell Phone Hands Free Stereo Adapter with Microphone: Cell Phones & Service

Music automatically pauses when a call comes in and starts when the call is complete. It has a button to pause and start the music as well as volume control. I'm amazed that so many have had trouble doing this. I guess I got really lucky on my first try.

This adapter worked like a champ. The Microphone is very good, picked up my voice from a distance as my BB was sitting in front of me on my desk while I worked.
I just ordered that one since it's inexpensive, already includes a mic, and works with any set of headphones.

Thanks for the feedback about how well it works!

Manufacturer: Motorola [Part #: SKN6183] Motorola original headset adapter (SKN6183) connects a 2.5 mm device to a 3.5 mm headset. Plugs into the headset port of any standard 2.5 mm phone and allows any 3.5 mm headset to connect to it. This allows you to use headsets designed for the iPod and other stereo devices to be used with your mobile phone.
Product Code: HS AD MOTOROLA SKN6183 2,5 TO 3.5

And the URL.

Stereo Audio Adapter SKN6183 Motorola 2.5mm to 3.5mm

$0.99 comparing to $8.95, and $6.97 INCLUDING shipment. Just ordered a few days ago, expecting it in my mail in couple days.

-----

Got it as was promised. No problems except can't find the appropriate 3.5mm headphones to work with my phone. It doesn't feel mine for some reason and keeps using the built-in speaker. Bad. 2.5mm are working just great, but not convenient.

Thanks for that.

Just picked one up today for $12.99 and it works great. I've been searching Best Buy and the Cingular store for these, and have always turned up dry. Verizon has it in their stores too, you just have to ask them because they hide 'em behind the counter for some reason.

Now, all I have to do is figure out what to do w/ that mess of wires b/c if I clip the mic to my shirt, I end up w/ an extra 3 feet of wire.
