Default calender sync applications

Please Login to Remove!

so i'm trying to find a solution to an issue that i could have answered myself 2 years ago when i was more into the world of berries.

I have an 8330m (like it matters) and i want to utilize the calender on my phone now .. Before i used it just to remember birthdays and what not, and i've always kept a day planner where i was able to physically write things down in my calender to keep track of my schedule. My day planner was stolen over the weekend and I don't want to try and have to re-write everything down again.

I need a program that I can use on a desktop PC that will sync with the blackberry calender application on my phone. Google sync i believe is its own calender program and I don't wanna have to deal with that and I don't have outlook on the computer that I would be using to sync my blackberry with. Outlook express doesn't have an option for calender appointments, and i use thunderbird as my primary email client and i know that blackberry is unable to sync with that program.

Any other options in my favor or am I going to have to use google sync?

You could add the appointments into your Gmail calendar on the PC and it would sync to your BlackBerry calendar OTA. I believe that's what you're looking for.

I also use T-bird for mail and Lightning for a calendar. I sync lightning to Outlook and Outlook syncs to Google Calendar. Might sound convoluted, but it works. Google keeps my BB, laptop, desktop, home PC and wife's PC calendars all in sync.

Is it possible to use Google Sync to utilize the OTA update for the Google calendar but NOT sync with Google contacts. It appears that the sync option does both. I have been nervous about trying as I have my contacts in my address book from another source and don't want to sync these with google.

I am only interested in using the Google sync for the OTA Calendar feature.

Thanks

Yes it is. In your google sync application, click on options and uncheck the contacts. This will only sync your calendar then.

email doesn,t syncso t-bird isn,t a problem.

I also use t-bitrd and lightning for calendar. I sync lightning to google calendar which then syncs with my bb, desktop, laptop and home pcs. works well for me.
