I've just upgraded from an 8700 to a 9300 and have tried to continue to sync with Microsoft Outlook using 5.01 desktop software, which used to work fine with the 8700. My OS is XP Pro.

However, it keeps giving me an '0x8004fd28' error code when trying to sync the calenders. Address book sync seems to work OK.

I tried installing vs 6.0 desktop software in case desktop 5.01 isn't supposed to work wirh the newer 9300 device but 6.0 doesn't work on XP at all.

Finally, I know that my phone syncs through 6.0 on a Windows 7 machine perfectly, but I have to get the 9300 to work with an XP PC! Any thoughts gratefully received. Thanks.

Do a search for the error code you provided above. You will find tips on how to possibly fix the problem.

Thanks for the advice. I managed to find one suggested fix, which involved re-naming a desktop file and replacing it with a new empty one and then re-trying the sync, but it didn't work. Am I missing something? I've tried going back to the Blackberry FAQ section, but I now can't find the original fix or any others that refer to this particular error code.
I seem to be going backwards!
