Default BES 5.01 and Microsoft Office Communications 2007 CWA R1

Please Login to Remove!

Hi on the hunt for some documentation on how to go about setting up access to CWA R1 on OCS 2007 on BES 5.01

I have installed the collaboration coponent on BES 5.01 for OCS 2007. I have also configured the connection settings to point the CWA R1 server.

The message on get on the handset when trying to log in using the OCS Client 2.1 for my 8100 is 'Service not enabled for this handheld'

If anyone has some BES 5.01 specific instructions on how to correctly set this up would you be so kind to jot down a response.

Much appreciated

Does the 8100 have an Enterprise BlackBerry Data Plan provisioned on it? Do other BES features work on the device? Email, MDS browser, etc?

Also, you might try upgrading the Enterprise Messenger client on the handheld to the latest version. I believe it's 2.5.20.

In reply to penguin3107's response:

Yes the 8100 does have a data plan provisioned to it.

On the back of your advice - update to the newest OCS client which is 2.5.2

Originally I tried to upgrade to this but failed and this was due to teh core 8100 software being at the level of 4.2. This only allowed the use of the OCS 2.1 client.

On upgrading to 4.5 core 8100 software I was able to upgrade to 2.5.2. Doing so enabled the device to connect to CWA R1

In addition to this I noted that the MDS service kept failing on the server. There is a KB for this....I believe without MDS running the OCS Client would fail as it is dependent on mobile data services.

So in all I have a working solution for BES 5.0.1 with OCS 2007 CWA R1. Anyone with questions on how to....just ask. Roll on OCS Wave 14
