Default Why can't I have event alarms?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a BB 9000 (c.2007 model).
I have the main alarm which is ok for waking me up in the morning but what I want to know is why can't I set audible alarms for events in the calendar?
I can see no option for an audible alarm and when the event does occur I only get a flashing warning, absolutely no use when the device is in my pocket?
Having said this, when an event is enterred in the calendar, a bell does appear next to the event but for what purpose?
Thanks

Ok so you did not read the manual. Set the sound profile for the calendar and it will notify you with sound. To set something in the calendar

Create a meeting invitation

In the calendar, press the Menu key.
Click New.
Type the meeting information.
enter the event
Press the Menu key.
Click Save.
Set an alarm notification

In the calendar, press the Menu key.
Click New Alarm.
Type the alarm information.
If you want the alarm to recur, change the Recurrence field.
Press the Menu key.
Click Save.

I think we're talking about two different things here.

You can set an alarm in the calendar or in the clock settings.

Meeting or event reminders are set in the calendar event itself. When you enter your event, just as tsac describes, be sure and set the reminder to notify you at the time you desire.

Then just make sure that you have your sound profiles set to notify you with a vibrate or a sound as desired when a calendar notification pops up.

I use calendar events all day long, almost every day. I can have them notify me with a sound, with a vibe, with LED and any combination of the three.
