There are several different models of Pearls out there.

I thought Korea had an odd frequency combo that made mobiles exclusive to Korean use. According to several sites (Google: Korea Cell Phone) they use a "highly specialized CDMA frequency" that necessitates special equipment.

Default Triband

Mmmmmm...

I just sent some of our managers to japan and if you google BB Korean you get this same issues going to Japan. The 8707v and 8707g work in Japan. The 8707v works in Korea. I wonder if his pearl is tri-band? If it is, it should work in US. The 8707g works in the US but only runs on GPRS and not EDGE.

I am in South Korea at the moment. The 8707 on AT&T works fine all over the peninsula. The Verizon 8830 also works fine, data and voice. The new Bold will work fine on UMTS.
I have used the ATT Tilt with Blackberry Connect here as well. It is on UMTS.
Several options to choose from now.

Hi...
Thx for the reply. So you have the At&t intl roaming plan and your sim in the 8707g and no problems? That is great. Thanks for posting this.
Now, I need to find someone that is in Toyko with this combination. I think this will work on the 1200 network there as well...

at the back(beside the battery), there is little card named "sim card"
you can use it to pay or busspass, pretty what credit cards do.
i think it's only avilable in korea.

I fly through Tokyo and it works there too. On the Tilt, I pulled the SIM out of my 8820, put it in the Tilt and installed BB Connect. It worked fine. It is working on the UMTS 3G network. The 8707 also uses the UMTS 3G network.
The 8830 is working on the CDMA2000 1X network in Korea. But does not work in Japan.

Thx... That is what I was trying to find out. CellHire uses Cingular Sims with 8707g BB's so they are on the At&t network and roaming in Toyko. I was just wondering if we would be able to remove the CellHire O2 Sim and install the At&t sim and then the At&t sim should work in the 8707g. From what your saying, this will work.

We got email from our manager today while he was still in Japan and he says many business people from the US that are there with him buy the 8707 just for this reason and travel to Japan.
