Default Help with access to Internet

Please Login to Remove!

I get a Blackberry 7290 brought from the U.S.A. and prepared for its use with AT&T Wireless. After unlock it I have been able to introduce my Spanish SIM.

Also I have updated the software of the BB to the last version that I have found, the v 4.1.0.30 9.

I do not have any MDS service contracted, either BES, either BIS. They not interest to me. It would be interesting to me to be able to connect to Internet through GPRS and wap although i have to pay by each data connection.

I have read in this forums that this is possible changing BB configurarion to connect to Internet whithout BES AND MDS. If I change in “OPTIONS” - > " ADVANCED OPTIONS” - > " TCP” and filling the APN of my carrier. I have made it and I tried to connect to Internet with Verichat but it has not worked. It gives me an timeout error.

I have proven with all the configurations of APN's that
I have seen in Internet for my carrier. Nothing with this.

I have proven to put my card SIM in another phone of my carrier with the APN's configuration and this way I connect with the other phone.

What can be the problem?

Thank you very much and excuse me for my English

Not 100% sure but check if you have a Prosumer or Enterprise Device. If it is an Enterprise Device a Policy could still be valid, even if you have upgraded the Software. Can you check if there is a Policy shown?

Basic question - do you have a Blackberry Data Plan on your account. You MUST have a Blackberry Data Plan to get any data at all on your BlackBerry. GPRS plans do nothing. Soecial Internet data plans do nothing. You must have a Blackberry Data Plan on your account.

Then if I want to access to Internet from my BB I need to contract with my carrier a data plan. There is no other way.

Then the post of this forum that say "How to Configure Full Internet Access On BlackBerry", żdoes not serve for anything without a Blackberry Internet Service contracted with my carrier.? Reading this post I understood that it's not necessary

Thank you for all

That is correct. You must get a BlackBerry Data Plan from your carrier.

Even with a BlackBerry Data Plan, you must still manually enter the APN information in order to use some applications.

The How to Configure Full Internet Access.. assumes you have a BlackBerry Data Plan.

I hate to but in, since I'm not doing this the 'proper' way, but...

go to opera.com and install opera-mini on your BB and try again, I ahve a full internet package, but no BIS/BES hosting and opera-mini can still access the 'net (though no other internet services work on the BB) if that doesn't work... then, yeah, you're gonna have to get a BB plan...
