I know this topic was brought up a few months ago when the 8700c was first released, but I was wondering if anyone had heard of any recent news regarding it. Will Cingular PTT ever come to the 8700c?

I heard that side convienve key is waiting on a firmware update to enable it for that. You'll actually have an option of buttons to use for PTT... Can't say where I heard the rumor, and it is just that a rumor. It came from a source from another phone company so I dont know. :shrug: It'd be nice

My buddy who works at a cingular corporate store told me that when the reps came around to his store from corporate, thay had working ptt on their 8700's. They were testing it out. He also said that cingular wanted to do a slow rollout of ppt so they don't overload the system and they can work out the kinks. They don't want to duplicate VZW's mistakes with ptt. They certainly are taking their time. We'll see.

That's a long chain of people to go through just to get to a rumor.

Quick question though, why were they testing to roll out PowerPoint?

My rep at Cingular also mentiond that PTT was coming to the 8700c, although I have not heard any update on this since last November. Whether this ever sees the light of day is anybody's guess...
