Default Outlook/Desktop Manager

Please Login to Remove!

Greetings. This is my first foray onto the forum, but I've been a blackberry user for about 10 years.

My wife has an 8330 Curve. When we purchased it, the Verizon store linked the BB to her Verizon email account and there has been peace in the universe.

Needing to have a better interface on her desktop, I recently installed Outlook 2007. I had no trouble getting the email to sync with outlook. However, the outlook/berry interface is proving more challenging.

Email items sent from the berry don't appear in the outlook sent items folder and vice-versa. Similarly, the calendar doesn't sync at all.

Is this simply a problem of needing to install the BB Desktop Manager? Thanks in advance for the help.

For calendar, yes you need to install Desktop Manager and do a manual sync everytime you need to sync the items.
Email however, cannot be synced.

Thanks. So is there a way to do it wirelessly, or can it only be done tethered?

You would need a corporate BES or a hosted BES solution to sync email on the PC client and the BB wirelessly. It cannot be done tethered at all.

RIM pulls email from your email server. Outlook also pulls from the server. Once it is in Outlook, you have little to no additional activity with the server, other than pulling more mail to the client.

If your ISP uses IMAP, then you may have some degree of sync but it all depends on how the ISP has it integrated and how RIM integrates with your ISP. You need to talk to whomever hosts your email account(s) for more information.
