First - Yes I know how to dial a letter / phone number on my BB - but it only addresses part of the issue.

Is there a way to modify a theme or other file on a BB to allow the display of the below image (dialpad.jpg) while you are on the dialing / in call screen? That way if you need to type a name / word / letter / whatever while on a call you don't have to have the letter to numers memorized?

Not sure if the image can be done, but you can always hit ALT to dial by letter while dialing out.

Yup, not a question using ALT to initially dial the number, but a question of how to add the image to the dial / connected screen so when the need arises to type a name / word / letter while on the call, it is easy to do.

you could have to use that image when actually designing a theme, and on the dialing screen you could use it as your banner. other than that i dont believe you have be able to unless you made it into a sticker and stuck it on your phone

Looking at Plazmic 4.6, it doesn't seem to allow one to edit the background of the Active Call screen, or change a banner on the Phone Hotlist screen.
