Default Jawbone - can anyone confirm?

Please Login to Remove!

If I replace a Jawbone earpiece with a Jabra gel - can anyone comment on whether the hole in the base is used to "survey" ambient noise? Is the headset doing noise cancellation by using that back piece as a microphone? Or is it just that the little white piece is sort of a microphone itself and there's no "input" for ambient noise?

The reason I ask is I need to know if it will be a problem if I were to cover that hole with the Jabra ear piece or not...

In case there's any confusion - I am NOT referring to the hole that goes from the top to the bottom, where the earloop attaches. This is a hole directly in the back part of the "stump" where the earpieces connect.

Thanks!

Does the white "nipple" still rest against your cheek with the eargel mod? And can you still use the ear loop?

The nipple is apparently some sort of sensor that is part of the noise cancellation system and must rest against your cheek for proper operation.

Yes, I use the Jabra mini ear gels also, just as pictured above. The earpiece works perfect.

I was using an older style Jabra ear gel - the kind that has that one little finger of gel pointing up that grabs on to a spt inside your ear to give it stability. I glued it on very loosely, and it stayed on for about 4 months. After some rough jostling in my computer bag, the gel fell off, and I noticed this hole right at the back of the base where the earpieces attach. I'm just wondering if that hole is a microphone used to reverse ambient noise. I've had that thing covered.

If nobody here knows, then I'll just do a test - noisy environment - I'll leave a message with it covered, and then another with it uncovered...

Don't have it handy, or I'll do this tonight...

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; Google Wireless Transcoder;))

No you do not have to glue it. They have a lip that grabs the earbud.

Yes, most any Verizon Corporate retail store. Not resellers. I could not find them at any BestBuy or such, but only at the VZW Corporate stores.

They are available of course from internet sites, as well. You should pay about USD$3.00 for a set of four.

Is it important to have that rubber cover on the back end of the jawbone? I'm talking about that piece that covers the connecter for the charger. It seems to fall off easily.

No. Toss it, it doesn't do anything useful.
