Default 8820 WiFi issue when using Shared Key

Please Login to Remove!

I have a NETGEAR WG302 access point and my 8820 will only fully connect to it when I have WEP setup as "Open" key access. If it's set to "Shared" key access, it will see my access point but does not fully connect. It shows a yellow status with a dash in it in the manage connections screen (vs. a green checkmark).

I can change my access point WEP setting to "Open", but other sites I use (like work) are set to "Shared". Is anyone else seeing this issue? I have not been able to find a setting on the 8820 to say whether it's "Open" or "Shared".

Using WEP shared key is not a recommended best practice, since it provides additional information for WEP cracking. Open key is the way to go, anyway.

Default WPA2 error with Netgear WG302 AP and Curve

I have a Netgear WG302 as well, however I cannot get my curve to connect via WPA2. Everything else in my home connects (laptop, Wii, directv, stereo, and Nokia phone which also uses UMA).

I get either a W000 error which means my key is wrong, but if i click connect again (without changing the key), I get a W010 error. Even when I changed the key to something simple like 12345678 and turned off MAC filtering. The phone either gives me the W000 or W010 error.

Already had TMobile send me a new phone, but same two errors. Access point and phone have the latest firmware.

I can get the phone to connect with WPA and WPA2 on a linksys access point, but I was hoping to remove that from my network.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is odd, I just got a new Linksys WRT110 Router and can't get WPA or WPA2 to work on my 8320 :(

My home network is only WEP because I could never get WPA to work reliably. It caused the phone to reboot or at times the router. I haven't tried since that time to see if things have improved, but once in a while I'll have to attach to a WPA router. Generally it's just less reliable and will drop to the cell network a lot.

I'm using my 8320 over UMA with a WPA2 connection to my Buffalo WHR-G125 router with no issues. I've always used it with WPA2.
