Default "Connection Data Rate"

Please Login to Remove!

Whenever I go digging around the different settings, I always find something that starts me worrying... Today, having performed a WiFi Diagnostic, I see that the "Connection Data Rate" is 48Mbps.

Shouldn't it be 54Mbps? Isn't that "wireless speed", or am I way off?

Thanks.

WiFi data speed depends on the mode supported by the hardware in question A/B/G/N, the distance between equipment, and the amount of interference in the channel being used. That said, I don't know if I have ever seen more than 48Mbps. But since even 54Mbps has only a through put of ~22Mbps one has to realize that all these specs are just numbers for 'ideal' conditions, not what you really expect to see in practical applications.

Wirelessly posted

That's a definition I can understand. It's like all the advertised internet speeds "up to 10 meg downloads".

Having said that, I've set the router to "G" and even in the same room (with my WiFi output boosted above normal, thanks to tomato firmware), I haven't seen higher than 48... So I was just wondering.

I tried my Bold right on top of my G access point and only got 48Mbps.
