Default BES and personal email?

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my first Blackberry (9000) and they set it up at work on BES. Before that I had my gmail on it. I am still receiving mail from gmail but I can't reply to gmail emails. I am afraid to go in and do the setup again for it because I don't want to pull myself off of BES and upset the IT people.

Can you have both? What should I do at this point?

Thanks.

Talk to your BES Admin. Most likely there could be IT policy preventing it and since it is on on the company server, and used for company purposes, they have the right to lock it down.

Is this your personal BB or a company device? IMHO, never a good practice to put a personal device on the company BES.

Remember, there is nothing personal on an BB connected to BES. If the company wants to see the personal stuff, there is generally a way that they can. There is a lot of controversy on what the company can and cannot see or do. I will leave that to the experts, but as I see it, never put anything personal on the company system or use a personal device in that manner.

What do you mean you cannot send emails. In w new email dialogue box there is a selection for the account you use "sent using".
If that is not the problem, resned your service books.
If it still does not work, talk to the BES admin. It may be that the IT policy prevents you from sending emails using your personal account.

I do not see a "sent using" option anywhere. I think I just need to rerun the personal email setup or resend the service books. However, I am asking if that is going to pull me off of BES--I really don't want to have to tell IT that I need to be activated for the third time now (there were issues).

Whenever I resend my service books by BIS, it nevers interferes with my BES setup.
