Default BIS Duplicate Calendar Entry Issue

Please Login to Remove!

After spending about 45 minutes searching the Forum, I've found lots of references that SEEM to be about this problem, but not quite (and most are for BES users). So, here goes:

I am on BIS. I just set up my new 8320. I schedule an appointment, and then invite another attendee. All works fine, and the other person receives the invitation. Because the BB copies me on the outgoing message, the scheduling notice arrives in my mailbox as well, and I wind up with duplicate entries in the calendar (one I set, and one I received as the cc). How do I stop this from happening? (I do still want to have my normal emails copy me)

Like I said, I've been searching for an answer but can't find it. If it is out there, just point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

What e-mail account are you using?
This would be the default for setting up your invites.

I only have one email account set up on the blackberry (my tmo.blackberry.net)... my other accounts forward to it. Because the invites cc me, they arrive as a schedule and an invite and wind up on the calendar twice.

Has anyone seen this?

I am not sure.
You may be getting one because you are CC'd and the other because of the setting in your service book. (Cical)

Look inside Options and find your Service Books, you should have one cical account.

Are you using Gmail?

Service books are fine (I re-sent to make sure). Not using Gmail.

I have the same thing going on with the same setup as yours. I presume you have your BIS setup so that all outgoing emails are bcc'ed to a separate email account which you then download into outlook ?

The reason you are getting the duplicates is

- you are getting one from the sync of the outlook calendar to the bb
- the second is created by outlook from the email that was received as a bcc

I think the trick is to filter out all calendar events received in the bcc account and have outlook delete the email on receipt.

I'm working on how to set up the filter and will post as soon as I have a solution.

Meanwhile if anyone thinks of something, would appreciate a post.

Thanks

Here's what I did:

A new rule:

Apply after message arrives
through specific (your bcc receive account) account
which is a meeting invitation or update
on this machine only
and
permanently delete it
stop processing more rules.

The permanently delete is important as a simple delete did not work - still appeared in the calendar.

BTW, I'm using Outlook 2007
