Default Sync Exchange Public Folder that uses custom form wirelessly

Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone know if I can sync an Exchange Public Folder that uses a custom form wirelessly? I've got folders that use the standard contact form to work, but can't if the folder uses a custom form.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

DId you ever find a solution to this, I'm having the same problem. Standard public folder sync fine, but we have some with custom forms that don't sync.

However if you copy the folder as a sub directory into a users private contacts then it syncs, still with the custom forms, which seems odd.

The user is owner on the whole public folder structure

Nope, have not found a solution. It sounds like things are syncing because (I'm assuming) that when the contacts are in the user's contact folder, the contacts are using a standard Outlook form, not customized.

They are using the custom forms as when I check the properties of the folder, under the forms tab i can see the custom forms listed.

I'll keep testing anyway to see if i can find a solution

Odd. Well, good luck. Fortunately for us, the information we were storing in the custom fields could be moved off elsewhere and we could revert back to the standard form. If you ever find a solution, please post back.

Default Use desktop manager

We have a public folder that has 10000+ contacts in it. We have the employees plug in to their desktops and do a 1 way sync from the public folder to their device contacts using desktop manager. The initial sync can take a while but after that everything goes quickly.

It doesnt carry over the custom form info, but it does sync all of the normal contact info which is all they need on their phone.

I dont allow them to add contacts to the phone and then sync them to the public folder. It would be full of incomplete info in different formats. Instead if they want it added to the contact list they forward the info they have to an admin in the office and that one person is allowed to edit that public folder. Keeps everything neat and helps prevent accidental deletions.

It's not possible for end users to sync records back to Exchange Public Folders, but we do the same thing as far as getting contacts into them goes. End users can't add PF contacts through Outlook, only admin staff.
