yes, because there are already blackberry devices with built-in gps receivers that support the assisted mode.

I noticed in OS 4.5 in the GPS option of the 8310 it says "Location Aiding" and I have mine to "enabled" and it also says "Location On" for GPS services and my old 8800 on OS 4.2 did not have that.

The cool thing would be to buy maps, ie. United States or whatever state you're in and voila, its all there.

So does it have any effect on your position fix? Do you get the fix faster or more accurate than before?

I am quiterested in that as I am just using a 8320 Curve with Google Maps Mobile which also works without a "satellite GPS receiver"
