Default 8800 GPS Software

Hi everyone, not sure whether this should be in the 8800 forum or the GPS forum so apologies if I've settled on the wrong one!

After a while out of Blackberry land I'm back once again with a shiny new Vodafone 8800 that I'm just so happy with! 2 days with this Blackberry and I've connected with it so much better than with my previous BB's (7230, 7290 and 8700)

Anyway to the point, the included BB Maps app is really good especially if your on foot and need to find something you know you are close to but not quite sure where, I dont like the way the road name takes up so much space in the bar at the bottom of the screen but hey you can 't win them all.

A draw back is having to wait for map data to pull down over GPRS. Are there any GPS mapping programs for the BB that can store their maps on a micro-SD card as supposed to having to pull it all over GPRS. I used to run TomTom and stuff like that on a PocketPC and bluetooth GPS back in the day and I'd like that kind of system again on my 8800 with the built in GPS ie. preloaded maps that dont have the cost or slowness of mapping over GPRS.

I have just signed up for a trial of Wayfinder6 which although GPRS based again seems to be a really good program by the way.

Thanks for your help in advance!
Dan

Nope -- not yet. Though I've found other GPS apps to be better at updating the maps than BBmaps.

the wayfinder app is very good but obviously at a price! For a freebie the BB one is quite good. Hopefully someone will do an offline map version of some software soon now that the 8800 has both the built in GPS receiver and SD card slot.

An offline map on the SD card would be great! i do not have a data connection on my BB 8800 so my GPS is pretty much useless. I originally thought the maps were offline so i got this device thinking that but how disappointed i was and how wrong I was!!
