Just a little more than that:

Go to Options > Advanaced Options > TCP

then for APN enter wap.voicestream.com

Leave the username and password blank.

Have you switched devices on the T-Mobile BIS yet from your Pearl to the 8800?

No, I haven't. How do I do that? With the device switch wizard on the desktop software?

Use that to switch all your contacts and other data over to the 8800.

As far as registering the 8800 on T-Mobile BIS, you can use their website, or what I find to be easiest when I switch, is to go to Setup Internet Email icon on the Blackberry itself. Click on that link, and it should ask if you want to switch devices. Say yes and you'll be good to go.

Nope. TMO provisions your SMS. Your service books handle all configuration. You may need to enter the TCP settings above for certain third party apps...

If you do a search for BBWeather you should find several threads that can help you. As far as the XM on T-Mobile... I don't think it will work right now becuase the monthly fee seems to be billed directly from the carrier, and T-Mobile doesn't support XM right now.
