Question Is there a way to "turn off" email?

Please Login to Remove!

My aunt sent me this email and I really had no idea how to answer it so I'm asking you. I'm figuring she's on the BES.

So Hallmark did an experiment with taking away everyone's landlines and internet and gave everyone a BlackBerry to try to save money. Apparently this experiment went over well and they're doing it across the board. This is fine and dandy but when I'm on vacation, I don't need my phone going off every few minutes with email. Can I somehow stop this temporarily?

Wirelessly posted (9520; (I'm mobile))

No. Not on BES. She should ask her admin to disable the email only from their end or she can turn off her email notifications and hide the bes email icon until she gets off vacation.

I thought, this is possible from the handheld: in the email options, in Email Setting, change "send email to handeld" from YES to NO.
(never tried this myseld, but that should do what you want)

Turning that off will not stop emails from coming in.

You can use profile "phone only" so you do not get emails.

As knotty stated, this will not stop mail flow. It will not mark read mail as opened or reconcile deleted mail.

You could turn of data services, however, that will cause all mail to be queued and then sent when it is turned back on. With this off, you won't be able to browse or use any data functions.

Also, if you're on BES, you could set your firewall to block Enterprise mail. That should work, I don't think I would do that, but to each their own.

Won't that ^^ only allow no notification of emails... it does not allow the user to "do not get emails".

They still come into the device, you just won't get an audible alert?
