I read this on phonescoop.com. Has anyone else heard this. They are doing this to gain more customers with the new Pearl. Any one else heard of this? This will only be for customers using BIS, not BES. Thanks
DROP IN VERIZON DATA COST
by ERIC33LOU Oct 29, 2007, 5:30 PM
Starting some time in November Verizon will reduce the data cost on just BLackberry phones from 44.99 for web and email to 29.99 for unlimited. BOUT TIME
It has already happened. I called customer service, and they dropped the price to $29.99, and credited my account for this month. It took some time; the rep did not know until she called someone else in data plans.
Every time I call Verizon, it's a joke. They are only interested in making money. Their people are not properly trained. Every person you talk to has a different answer.
I called for a new pearl and got 3 different prices from # different people (I knew I could get for 49.99). When I called back to order from person who giving me 49.99, I could not get through and twice left VM. Never heard back. One person told me I could get the price in a store. Went to store. What a joke. Wrong. Guy wanted me to pay like 249.99. So now Verizon rep is holding me hostage to change my account to a business account that he manages in order for him to send out the pearl. I have to read and agree to a 25 page contract which is total garbage.
Anyways, on web site it says "Use your BlackBerry for personal email and Web surfing." for 29.99 plan. Says nothing about limiting data.
Brandon: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
You: does new 29.99 blackberry plan include unlimited data?
Brandon: I'd be happy to help you with that.
Brandon: Yes that is correct.
Brandon: Are you a existing Verizon customer?
You: okay - some of your reps are telling people that it is limited to 10 MB
Brandon: I do apologize for the inconvenience.
You: They have a habit of not being informed.
Posts on Howard Forums seemed to indicate that the price drop to $29.99 was for BIS only plans. The pricing on BES/BIS plans stayed the same ($44.99 for unlimited, $29.99 for 10MB)....

Here is what's listed on my account under add features:
Data
BLACKBERRY UNLIMITED BBA $44.99
IP GENERAL USE W/FES $0.00
BLACKBERRY PROVISION $0.00
Block Application Downloads $0.00
10MB of Data Usage $24.99
BLACKBERRY 10MB W/BROADBAND $24.99
I see nothing regarding a $29.99 BIS plan. Before I call them does anyone who has changed their data plan know if it requires another 2 year commitment? I currently have the $44.99 plan.
I checked ordering a new 8130 Pearl and there's a selection for Email and Web for Blackberry. Here's the details:

Voice Usage: Per your voice calling plan.

This is true. I finally got someone who knew what was going on. First ofall you must switch to a nationwide plan and then they can give you the blackberry unlimited data plan for 29.99. Hope this helps. You may have to try calling a few times. 15 less a month is awesome Thanks

not true you dont have to switch plans. They tell you that but you dont.
Luck of the draw today on the first try. Got a customer rep who knew just want I wanted. Changed to $29.99 BB Email and Web. Its unlimited data and there's no change to your contract.
Just before we completed the call I got all my service books sent from the BIS. Guess they do something to ensure no BES is available.
