Default Curve keeps turning itself off randomly

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I just got the Curve and it keeps turning itself off at random times. There's no message or warning or anything--it just shuts off right away and then reboots on its own.

Does anybody know what could be wrong with it? Thanks.

try to pull out the battery without turning it off. if that doesnt work, reformat your microSD, if you have one.

Just got my BB 8320 and it's doing the same thing, it is very random when it does shut down. I had V4.2 OS upgraded to V4.5 OS hoping it would fix the problem but no luck. Can someone help? Is this a common problem with the BB 8320 itself? BTW I do not have a MicroSD in my phone yet so I do not think it has anything to do with the MicroSD Memory.

How securely does the battery sit in the thing? Some small number have a tiny bit of play in them, others snap in tightly. Roommate's had play in it, and rebooted about twice a day, until a bit of facial tissue jammed in opposite the battery terminals stopped it cold.

I am also having this issue with my 8300. In the middle of a phone conversation or while Im'ing or texting it will buzz the just shut off. The battery is in firmly, the phone has not been exposed to the elements, the battery indicator says it is charged.

I had this issue on my first Curve. Returned it under warranty and the new one is fine.

Good answer!!! If you just bought the phone...you have 30 days for an even exchange at the store....

I upgraded and downgraded to 3 different versions and everything was the same. Phone would turn on. About 1-2 mins after it booted up, it would restart. Made it tough to do anything with the phone. ;)

I have this same issue with my T-Mobile 8320. I've had it for about a year and it just started doing this. I am wondering now if it is a bad battery. I'd hate to spend a lot of coin on a new battery if that is not the issue.

It looks like we have a lot of people in here with the same issue. Can anyone shed light on the problem and solution? The only possible viable solution in this thread is a loose battery. I've taken the back off with the phone on and tried to physically move the battery. It is in there tight and won't budge. The phone stays on.

Some behavior I've noticed: I only have this problem when the phone is not plugged in to USB or charger. The battery meter will read 90%, then a call will come in, then after maybe a minute the phone shuts off. Could it be that bad batteries do not correctly report their charge? Or do they just drain extremely fast?

I just wanted to update you guys with my progress on this problem. I ended up buying the Seidio 1500mAh battery a week ago. I have had no issues since then. So, I guess you could say the original RIM battery was the culprit. I'm surprised that after only a year of moderate use that the batteries fail. I recommend getting the third party battery since we know that the OEM batteries are defective, or at least they are not good.
