Default Questions about a used pearl 8110:

Please Login to Remove!

I bought a used one off of ebay and just got it today in the mail. The description was that "this phone is in perfect working condition and ready to use", but I'm not really sure about that. Before I submit a complaint I want to make sure that it's not just my ignorance on the phone's expected quality.

I have to press pretty hard on the main four navigation keys to get a response (often 2 tries before success), but it feels like the keys are progressively better each row down. Also, the track-wheel-ball-thing needs a little pressure and grip in order to move the courser around, like it's a ball-bearing that needs lubed. Are these regular issues that come with normal wear on this phone? If so, I can deal with it, but if not then it's pretty lame that I could've spent an extra 10 bucs to get a refurb.

Thanks for any help.

Wirelessly posted

Doesn't sound good to me. Is it useable and could you have bought one in better condition for what you paid for that one? That's your call.

Sounds like it's been a bit abused, in quite a dirty environment. It sounds like a lot of dust or dirt has got underneath the keys and into the trackball.
If you're capable (or have a friend who is) of pulling things apart carefully, they are quite easy to disassemble and clean. Check Youtube for videos first to see what you're up against.
The trackball will likely just need dust and fluff removed, and a lube with a small amount of spray grease.
The keys will likely just need dusting with a small paint brush or similar.
I don't know if you're keen, but best of luck either way.
