Default 8700 personal + bes email

Please Login to Remove!

Got my Tmo 8700 on Monday. We use a bes here at work and i wanted to get my personal email on it. I have the messages icon and the [email address] icon show up.

is there a way to keep work emails work and personal personal? Personal stay personal while work has work + personal

In all honesty I love the device except for a couple of annoyances.
The end call button (it used to be on the side, i wish i could still use it)
the damn blinking green light!

You can turn off LED flashing under Screen/Keyboard. Not sure I uderstand your other questions. There is only one messages list. You can file your personal messages and set up a keyboard search which in effects filters to your personal email. That is the only way to do it. See my tips doc. Also try to restate what you want to do after you play around a bit.

To turn off the green blinking light, go to Options, Screen/Keyboard and set LED Coverage Indicator to Off.

I haven't received my 8700g (yet) so I don't know what it looks like, but are you saying that you now have different icons on the main screen denoting which e-mail account belongs to what?

I think what he wants is to have two separate icons which would lead to only Personal emails and BES/work emails. As for how that gets done, I don't think he really minds :D

I would LOVE for their to be a way to do this, and hopefully this will be a feature in the future. I only have BES, but I want to be able to separate my text messages from email, and then to be able to separate my emails into different folders. I don't redirect that much email simply because of that feature (or lack thereof).

Agree, they need to add this feature, as well as the ability to customize the "From:" address on outgoing email, just as Gmail does. When will they ever learn? (Please don't reply that BBReply is what I am looking for, because it is not. BBReply does not change the "From:" field, only the "Reply-to:" field). BB users are power email users; simply support the features Gmail supports. Christ, Gmail already has better email features than BB. This is annoying! Don't misunderstand me, I love my BB, but there are a couple must have email features that would just make it perfect!

I don't know if this is related, but since I have multiple e-mail accounts setup on my BB, when I compose, I can select the account I want to use by changing the "Using:" field -- is this similar to what you are trying to achieve by chaging the "From" field?

Yes and No

In Gmail, you can change the "From:" field when replying to any email. It sounds like what you are describing is that you have setup multiple accounts through the BIS - like a work email, a yahoo email, gmail account, etc... When you hit compose, you are given the option to choose from any of these? Is this what you are describing? If so, it is not what I am looking for, because I would the same ability when replying (the ability to change the "From" field).

Thanks, though.

If you use the Zen theme, you will have a seperate icon for email and SMS/text

I was lead to believe by my RIM rep that a future version of handheld OS will support seperate icons for BIS and BES email. I thought it would have happend with V4.1 but I guess we need to wait for a future release.
