Default What software versions are you running?

Wow it's been forever since we had this issue.

I recall it being an issue with the Version of Notes client we were running & the Bberry Desktop Manager version.

Once we got on the latest revs of both, the OK button was no longer greyed out.

Yup - had to do with the version of the Desktop Manager you were running. What version of Notes are you running, by the way? I thought the latest version of Desktop Manager all but resolved this issue, as I have not seen this in a long time.

If you are running Notes 7 and the latest BB manager, there is a "hotfix" dll that you need to download from BB to enable the sync again.

You must be crazy. Outlook Express is better than Lotus Notes. It's just a big POS.

I could go on and on about the pros of lotus and the cons of outlook, but I won't.

I will just ask you this, when was the last time one of your users caught a computer virus?
For me, the last time one of mine got one was way back in 1999, when we were using exchange/outlook. Then we swtiched to Domino.

logistically lotus notes is just more logical from a business standpoint. I don't care which is better. I personally think outlook is better, but in relation to virii or hacking the top of the totem pole is outlook. It's going to be hacked, and it's going to be prone to virii. no one cares about notes so it gets a free ride.

What irritates me is our company understands this logic and we all use lotus notes. we don't, however, apply the same logic to browsers. We still use IE and it's as prone as a baby at a pedophile convention. Firefox is more logical from a business standpoint.

The amount of time I waste a day fixing issues related to phishing and hacking cause of IE is rediculous.

I can't imagine how much time IT wastes at companies using Outlook on mass scales.

How many years ago did they make Outlook so that it won't run ActiveX by default, show remote images by default, or allow unprompted access to your address book by other applications? 4? Maybe 5?

Out of the box today, I don't see where Outlook is any less secure than Notes.

True, but as Earth said, "no one cares about notes so it gets a free ride"

It's the whole "king of the hill" arguement. Everyone loves to hit at the guy on the top of the totem pole cause they're an easy target. Outlook (nee. Microsoft) is the big boy. Hackers, Virus makers, spammers, etc. are going to go for them first. Largest market essentially.

I guess I don't consider the ride to be so free when it can take 3-4 extra steps to do common things in Notes vs. Outlook.

I have Lotus Notes on my work computer and I do keep one copy of my contact synched with Lotus Notes as a "back up". However, when I do my daily synch for contact/calendar/memo/tasks, I still use Outlook. I don't want my company to "easily" see what I have on my personal BB...

Back to the OP! Try selecting another version of Lotus in Intellisync and it should let you click OK. The OK buttin is greyed out when you've selected what Intellisync thinks is the wrong version of software you have or software you don't have. I had the same problem, and this incredibly simply trick fixed it.

You talk about largest market. MS is barely ahead of Notes in the market share of the two according to Gartner Group survey. IBM/Lotus is also increasing their market share every year. Don't even get me started on the ease of implementation, upgrades and backwards compatibility. As well as being able to run on just about any OS out there. The web access side of Notes is far better than the Outlook web access. I went to a training class and the big new feature for OWA was spell check. Notes has had spell check in the Domino Web Access client for over 4 years. Also the security of the Notes client with the need for a token ID + a password is far superior to MS outlook. If anyone would like to continue we could start another thread in the off topic lounge...

I am off topic and so I will stop.

As others have stated if you get on the latest version of the BB Desktop manager it should fix all of your issues.
