I was googling the Push To Talk service that's available to you guys to the US and found out that the my current wireless service provider (Orange UK) do a similar service call Talk Now.

Seen as how i found this out just seconds ago, naturally another niche feature not normally available to the UK is something i'm interested in!

So the questions are: -

1) Is the 8350i different to use and/or operate compared to it's GSM/CDMA counterparts?
2) How and when do you use the Push To Talk service?
3) How reliable is it? (i.e. Signal Stability, Connection Stability, Voice Clarity)

Now i know the last question is pretty irrelevant to me as the answers for that question will apply to the US carriers however as you guys get better coverage/availability than we do over this side of the pond i just though i'd weigh up my options

I use PTT in my work at the County. PTT is convenient when you need to communicate with several people at the same time. I like to think of it as fancier walkie talkies.

In the US at least Nextel has the better PTT capability. Our work briefly tested Cingulars version but found it unreliable. For the most part it works well but I've had some encouters where it had issues connecting to the other users, even though the signal is supposed to be pretty strong.

I seen pictures of it, I thought I seen 1X-EV-DO on the screen of the 8350i, don't it use CDMA ? I dunno about the iDEN network with data...

Nextel has other BlackBerry models such has the 7520 and 7100i. They have data plans. The CDMA Curve is the 8330. The 8350i will only work on the iDEN network. I believe it shows NXTL on the screen. You may have confused that for 1XEV.
