Default Introduction & a couple of quick questions...

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all! After roughly 5 years of Treo (650 & 680) I opted to give the 8900 a try! So far so GREAT! All I really miss is the touchscreen! (keep reaching for my stylus!) And my 3rd party apps that I had already paid for on the Treo... But I will take care of that once I get all of my standard things in order. Now to my questions;

1) My wi-fi router at home is using "WPA Personal" security and that is not listed in wi-fi security options on my .. Is there a setting I can use without having to reconfigure my entire wi-fi setup at home?

2) I have all of my contacts synced thru Entourage on my Mac. Since Mac s'ware doesn't come out for the BB until September, is there a way to get my contacts into my new device short of copying them 1 by 1 to the sim? I have tried to "beam" via BT but that fails time after time! And not just in this instance.. I have ALWAYS had a difficulty time beaming contacts using BT even on the Treo! I suspect I am doing something wrong! If someone has a link or procedure that they think will help me to get this accomplished please do let me know!

3) Am I just over looking the "Home Page/Main Screen" option when I try to change the side button assignment? (comes assigned to camera out of box)

After I get these issues resolved I will be posting ref. profiles and folders in the future.

I look forward to reading the responses to these questions and getting to utilize even more functions on my new toy! And better understanding the why's & how's of the 8900 like I had on the Treo devices! Thanks for your time! ~FAT

1 - WPA Personal is supported
3 - hit the nice red button to go back to the home screen.

I should have just enabled "broadcast SSID" first... I ended up doing just that & it worked with no problem! It was not listed however. That is why I asked. Thank you for the suggestions!

I do realize that the red button will get me back to the home page... but it sometimes takes me thru the menu page 1st... I was asking to know if changing the side button would get me straight back to the main/home page with a single button push always!? If there is a way to do this, please do let me know. It may not be possible! Thanks again for the help!

I will try to find a workaround to get the contacts synced 1st as my girlfriend is faced with the same problem and it would cost nearly as much to get the s'ware as it would to get another of the phone! If i can't figure one out... guess I will have little choice! Thanks for the input everyone! ~FAT
