I travel to Korea alot. My 8820 can't mount their (and if I do get through it really expensive) Wifi easily and I was looking for a way to share IP by way of my ethernet connect laptop with software. I assume that since Mr. Clark is so capable (thanks for your postings) that sharing without this device is really tough? I have free inbound Korea cell phone so this will be great as I use IM+ for skpye to setup cheap calls. Too bad Japan and Korea don't use GSM.

I would also suggest the Apple Airport Express (same size/functionality as the Linksys box). Apple - AirPort Express

I travel with one in my laptop case, all over the world. At worst, I don't have to sit at the little desks that the hotel provides because I can move about the room. At best, I have used it in trade shows and other Cable-only settings where I need to share that wire with others (work or family). This little box handles up to 10 connections.

Cheers!

The Apple Airport Express and the wifi Blackberrys don't get along too well. OS 4.5 may have fixed some of the issues but it's possible to have major issues with this router.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not sure what you mean by "don't get along too well" - I've used both kinds of AirPort Express' with my Bold and it seemed happy enough. I'm running .147 on it but it also worked well with .126 and other mutations.

By two different kinds I mean the original "G" and the new "N" standard device. It was good to have Wi-Fi in the hotel room along with my laptop so that I could do some larger downloads while roaming internationally.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'd chime in and say I did end up getting this router and the first thing I did with it was load dd-WRT on it.

This little router rocks, I've used it many times for many different purposes. Best thing is using it to boost my inside wifi to the outdoors by placing it on an outlet outside the porch. Makes UMA calling from the yard solid as can be. Sigh, look where I live, I miss spending time outside already and I've still got 4 months before it's a reality..
