Is there anyway to setup my phone to ring at least 10 rings before it forwards people to the voice message answering (the one where you press and hold 1)?
I tried all the options on the voice message, but no result. My carrier is AT&T.
B) If you have a GSM based phone, some have had success by dialing this number from your phone: **61*XXXXXXXXXXX**30#
* Replace XXXXXXXXXXX with the number of your carrier voice mail center (find it by looking at your Phone Dialer > Options > VoiceMail > Access Number. Put your access number in place of the Xs above.
I have trouble finding the voice mail access number. I looked at the Options, but can't find it. Anyone know? Thanks
I was about to say it's cuz you're using Rogers in canada but you're using AT&T so Weird, that's a GSM code... it is supposed to work on all GSM phones. So you get that error message when you try the status thing?
Oh that's not an error... that code actually is for "Call Forwarding if unreachable" so if nobody can reach you, it goes to that number, which is your voicemail access number [and if it happens to also be your personal number, might wanna edit the above post so as not to give pranksters the chance to call your number]. However, in the status it SHOULD give you an amount in seconds after the number is displayed... perhaps AT&T doesn't support that feature. I guess you'll have to give them a call...
Curious, what message did you get after you put in *61*[dest]*[sec]#
Max is 30 secs btw, as mentioned earlier in this thread by John Clark.
Then perhaps it doesn't matter if it is one asterisk or two? I've always used one...
And on a look at a number of sites that list GSM codes, I am now thoroughly confused, as there is an ample mixture of two asterisks at a couple sites, and one asterisk on two others. It must be interchangeable.
I believe that is an AT&T restriction and nothing to do with your BB. Try customer care but I don't think it can be changed.
