I have a friend with a limited data plan. He is worried about using bbm on the data plan in case he goes over his limit. So he want's to know how much kb of data does BBM use?

Does anyone know? Is it a fixed amount of KB per message or something? Is there way to check how much kb you've used?

His carrier would be able to answer that question. With AT&T, I can log into my account and see this, and much more info.

Text isn't going to use up much unless he sends thousands and thousands of text messages. It's really the web browsing and transfer of media files that will really chew through a data plan's allowance.

For simple one-line text BBM messages it will likely be about 12 kb per message. Insignificant really.
