I would like to purchase a 7290 while I am in the US to use in Belgium. Will I be allowed to use my SIM card from my current phone or get a new one from my provider in Belgium and have it work ok? I am just new to this technology so sorry if the question sounds silly.

Why not just buy it in Belgium? Base, Mobistar and Proximus all sell 7290's.

To answer your question, a SIM card from a local carrier will work in a USA bought 7290 (assuming it is an unlocked device), but your SIM will need to be 'activated' for BlackBerry by the carrier so we will require an a new plan or an additon to your current plan.

It's important that you buy an Unlocked device if you buy it in the US. If you buy a phone from T-Mobile / Cingular etc they're normally locked to their network (your Belgium SIM will not work).
