I noticed my BB Address Book was empty today. Yesterday, the battery drained and died, so it may be that when the battery died, the memory forgot all of the addresses written to my device.

I thought it would be an easy fix: re-sync with Outlook. Yet after re-syncing twice, the address book is still empty. I have thousands of contacts in Outlook and had thousands on the BB before they disappeared today. I thought resyncing would bring them all back.

What is most bizarre is that while syncing, BB Desktop Software was behaving as though there were contacts in my Address Book, because it said "22 changes since last sync" during synchronisation. Yet when I went to the BB Address Book after the sync, there was nothing there. It's like they are somewhere on the device, but hidden.

What adds to the puzzle is that all of my Calendar, Tasks, and Memo items are there. Where are my Outlook contacts and why did they get moved?

Is there both an Address Book and a Contacts book in the BB? I am looking at the Address Book and finding it empty, but is there a Contacts book that will have my thousands of Outlook contacts on it? If so, where is my Contacts book? I always thought I was going through teh Address Book to find my contacts, but maybe I am remembering incorrectly.

I just found the problem: I had a filter for "BA" activated, and this caused no contacts to be found. I don't know how that filter got there, but removing it restored the view of all my contacts.
