Looking around for a new theme / wallpaper, stumbled upon this;

You could have just asked me too!
It's 100% real, as the caption says below it.
Also related are the 8800 and Curve versions

ok, so now I am asking you, or better yet, will rephrase an intelligent question. What exactly is that. It seems you took a pic, alighned it up and done, but I guess what I (and the other 2 posts) were looking for is a bit more of what you have done and more to the point how to copy it.

The icons on the bottom seem to be a cool theme, but how did u get the transparency?

I'm going out on a limb here, but Peter's has used a live camera image to create the screen shot and thus making it appear transparant. If this is the case, then hats off. Brilliant!

I am confused also but I think he just took a pic and set it up that way with his camera. I cant see how it would be transparent.

I've posted the technique a few times, but I'll oblige once again.

This requires a fair amount of familiarity with your camera - at the very least how to use the macro setting - and some familiarity with a decent photo editor (read photoshop). Also, it's impossible without a tripod.

1. Set up the shot: Place the screen to become transparent in front of its background. You'll have to ensure the screen is on so you know its active dimensions after you shoot. Set up the camera on the tripod and make sure it's focused correctly. Take one shot, then remove the screen - without moving anything else - and take another (ie just the background).

2. Get the wallpaper: Load both images into photoshop and layer the complete shot over the background shot. Lower the opacity on the complete shot so that you can see where the screen and background overlap. From the background, crop out this overlap region to the size of the device screen (ie 240x260 for the pearl). Save this image.

3. Transparency: Load the saved image onto the device and set it as the wallpaper. You should be able to easily align the device with the background to make it seamless. Make sure to do this aligning from the camera view, as your angle or perspective may be different. Take the shot and you should be good to go.

This is the gist of it, there are plenty of how-tos on google and even entire communities devoted to these effects. Hope this helped! Any questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks Peter for the info. I think though it would have been way cool to actually do this live using the built in camera function.
Great shots my the way on your site.

You'd never be able to do it as the camera can't be used in such a manner (especially with no macro ability)
