hey guys,

so i've been rocking this wicked old 8700 and was going to just pick up a curve this afternoon.

thne i came across the 8900 and now i'm thiking about waiting for it to be offered by ATT.

anyone know when it'll be available?


how you you like yours? what did you ahve before? how is it better/worse?

I love mine. But when it's going to be offered by ATT is anybody's guess. They claim they don't want to release any more 2g/EDGE phones (the 8900 is 2g). Nobody has spotted a 3g Curve anywhere. ATT just released the 3g BB Bold in October so that may keep them busy for awhile is my guess. You can buy one unlocked and use it on ATT now though.

t-mo's nationwide coverage is behind att and verizon's. however, in metropolitan cities like LA, t-mobile is just as good. i remember seeing t-mo billboards that would advertise "fewest dropped calls in LA." so yes, in so-cal, t-mo coverage is great. they've also have the best customer service of all the carrier's too.

I think the clock is ticking before AT&T or Sprint gobble up TMO (for economies of scale only). My bet is will be a Sprint/TMO merger. Both companies compliment each other.

are you talking about GSM (att, t-mo) vs CDMA (verizon, sprint)? like i said, in metropolitan areas like LA you won't see much difference in coverage in terms of 2G. you'd have to really go out of the city and off the major highways to notice a difference. 3G coverage is an entirely different animal but since the 8900 isn't a 3G phone i won't discuss it.

Hey same ideal here.
I've been rocking the 8700r for awhile now and since my birthday is coming up, my parents asked me what I wanted and I was already looking to get a new BB and thought hey! Why don't I check out the 8900. So I'm hoping that it'd be better and I'd have my music with me as well lol.

Having the thought I could have just taken my Mom's bold, since she offered but I heard some bugs about the bold and what not that I refused.

From what I heard everyone who has had a 8900 loves it, and I hope you and I do as well if you get one.
