Question 8120 and UMA. On? Even though "UMA" icon not showing?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey Experts,

I have a 8120 and am using the Linksys WRT110 router. I am using b and g mixed only and all default settings except; MAC filtering on, WPA2 PSK, not broadcasting SSID. Previously I was using just WEP with the same other options as above and it seemed to work pretty good eventhough it would drop out of UMA now and then. But since I started using WPA2 it drops out more often and I noticed if I go to the WiFi diagnostics (basic) it shows that I have a successful UMA connection even though the "UMA" icon is not showing. Am I still using UMA? Also I was wondering what "page" you change the "channel" on. Is it actually called channel or?

Any thoughts?
Should I try using the stable Linksys settings shown in this forum? Also I was wondering what "page" you change the "channel" on. Is it actually called channel or?

Thank You Much!

I tried entering the settings described in the forum and it didnt work at all. Set them back. UMA is on now, but not sure how well it is going to behave. Not sure which setting the WRT110 or 8120 didnt like. I will have to play with it at a more "sane" hour.

I've seen this happen on my 8320. Open Manage Connections and turn off the Mobile connection. Most likely you'll see the UMA come up. Turn the mobile connection back on and sometimes UMA goes away and sometimes it will stay.

Smile Some Success

OKAY! I think I have finally got it stable!

For my 8120 I am using a Linksys WRT110 router.

I am only using G wireless mode on channel 3
I am not broadcasting my SSID
I am using WPA2 Personal security AES encryption
I am using MAC filtering
AP Isolation is enabled. (Not sure if this is helping)
Beacon Interval 100 (mine would never connect with it at 50)
DTIM interval 2
Fragmentation threshold 2304
RTS threshold 2304

Battery rebooted 8120 many times.

As near as I can tell, (haven’t been staring at device constantly) i have had UMA stable for 2 hours... (that’s a feat for me)

I will recap again tomorrow and see how it behaves.

Smile So far "so" good

well, I have a stable UMA connection with the above configuration for a day and a half. However, it seems to take a while for it to connect when I get home. I have watched the Diagnostics Page (advanced) and it will take 2 or 3 attempts to connect to the router and then it never gets hooked into UMA on the first try, but once it does it stays connected. UMA Icon always on now when I am successfully connected.

Thanks to John for the help!

Bump...and I'll reopen the thread.

I just had occasion to hook up to one of these today. I tried many things but had little success holding a UMA connection until I switched the router to "G" only. I tried B/G mixed and that didn't do it. The only way to fix it was "G" only. Once I did that, all is perfect with UMA on the WRT110.
