Exclamation O2 uk OS5 upgrade

Please Login to Remove!

Just tried to install OS5 from O2 Uk using the official Blackberry link page of service providers. Followed the onscreen instructions, I successfully dowloaded to my PC. When I opened Blackberry Desktop and plugged in my 8900 it automatically searched for updates. Unfortunately the new OS didn't show up. The only choices I had were to keep my present OS4.6 or downgrade to previous versions. Any idea where the OS5 has disappeared to.Any help would be much arppreciated.

Did you follow the upgrade instructions?
(namely: did you delete vendor.xml?)

Thanks for the replies. All I did was follow the precise instructions from O2. They don't mention deleting any files. I have gone through this same procedure with previous upgrades without any problems.
They instruct as follows (main parts only)
a)download new software to pc, then double click and follow installation wizard.
b)open desktop software and connect phone. Your pc should detect new code and prompt you to upgrade. select UPGRADE NOW.
c)the software should back up your data, upgrade your software and restore data
As for a Blackberry data plan, is this the same as an O2 data plan. I apologise if I sound a bit vague, but I'm not into a lot of these technical issues. I get my emails and use the internet, is that classed as a data plan!
What is the difference between OS5 and OS4.6. Is it even worth upgrading, would I lose some of my apps?
