Default Need Help Organizing My Audio Files

Please Login to Remove!

Just got my first Blackberry, a Bold, and I'm loving it.

However, I'f finding the media player a bit frustrating.

I listen mostly to audio books and up to now I've been using my ipod. I would create a playlist for each audiobook in itunes and copy all the mp3s over.

It was then a simple matter to scroll to the playlist on my ipod and play the files.

How can I do this on the Bold. i.e. I'd like to pre-load my media card with all the files in the appropriate playlists.

Trying to add files to playlists ON the Bold turned out to be a nightmare. I tried creating several folders on my media card (in Windows) and copied the appropriate files into each. When I went to the media player all the files were jumbled together with no sign of the folders I'd created.

I saw how I could create a new playlist on the Bold and add files to it, but the big problem with this is that most of the mp3 files have names like: track-01.mp3, track-02.mp3 (and those two files could be from different audio books) When they're all jumbled together I can't tell which goes with which.

In fact I have one audio book that came on 3 CDs, the directory structure on my pc is...

CD1:
track-01
track-02
track-03

CD2:
track-01
track-02
track-03

CD3
track-01
track-02
track-03

In the media player on my bold I see:

track-01
track-01
track-01
track-02
track-02
track-02
track-03
track-03
track-03

Unlike a collection of music files, these all need to be played in the correct order.

So how do you guys organize your audio files?

Is there another media player out there that would allow me to navigate subfolders rather than base everything on playlists?

Thanks for any advice to this novice

I find this frustrating as well.

I found the following thread which is in the Bold forum, but it might help.

Good Luck!!

EDIT:
Sorry, forgot the links and other information.

However, if you are a windows media player fan, here is something i was just experimenting with. The link below is also in Jsanders signature.

Stinsonddog's Blackberry Tips and Tricks

Look for the 8300 curve tips. Its a PDF file and about 3/4 way thru it there is a section called "Playlists on 83XX from the Rim Knowledge base"

^^^^^^^^^^^ works like a charm ^^^^^^^^^^^^
