I cannot update my Blackberry Z10 with OS 10.3. I contacted my telephone operator Mobilink Pakistan but it said that there is no issue on their end. I also removed battery, SIM and storage card and rebooted it. But no success. Finally, I did a factory reset of my device, but no luck. On clicking the Software Updates on phone, the message appears as: "You have the latest software". My current OS is 10.2.1.3062 and the Model Number is STL100-1. Kindly suggest to resolve my problem. Thanks.
Not all carriers have updated the OS levels they allow. You can always follow the updates and methods shown on this forum.
I would read various posts on the 10.3 issues before doing anything
The 10.3.1 upgrade was pulled by some, maybe most, carriers because of OTA and Link install issues, and new upgrade just now released by BlackBerry. Some carriers are pushing it.
If your Z10 is carrier-branded then your official upgrades are controlled by the carrier.
There are unofficial methods. If you don't know, visit supportforums.BlackBerry.com and go to the BB10 OS board. See the sticky threads on Sachesi and autoloaders. Again, these methods are unofficial, but do work.
So it looks like the mandatory push of 10.3 is a small mess. reloaded via autoloader 10.2 and that failed. After doing a 5th reload of 10.3 it seems to be working.
really weird. Good thing it was a spare Z10. At this point I wont even think of doing my other Z10.
I understand the need for the protect but to be honest the upgrade is crap.
It loads and all looks ok until the first power down. the led starts blinking 1 then 6
which based on the available info is a software issue.
To produce this level of software and have no way of backing down or upgrading to something else is sad. The OS was a mandatory push and to load software that is not correct for the radio version installed then have it locked... not good.
Ok this will sound nuts but apparently the Z10 update fails if the SIM is not in and active for some reason. I searched for a reason and found none. Blackberry apparently built the update "assuming" the phone would have a SIM installed. If not the reboot fails and gives the impression the software is corrupted. After many many downloads from JSanders listing on the BB support site, I was able to figure out the reason was the SIM. It may be just a fluke but for now WITH a SIM installed it seems to work.
Now I have to go put a bandage on my head after banging it into a wall for days!!
Not sure why but it may have been because I loaded the new OS without the SIM installed or just a bug in the version I loaded. STL100-2, -3:10.3.1.2582 ( a auto push to the phone)
added the SIM and it worked. really weird but worked. been searching for a reason or info but so far nothing.
I have another Z10 and may experiment now that I "think" I can get it past this if it fails. My other thought is it may just be a hardware issue that will jump back at some point. I'm betting when I really need the phone.
