Default Cannot receive MMS

Please Login to Remove!

I have searched and found similar problems but no answers that help.

My 8900 does not receive MMS messages. No notification, nothing.

Some Troubleshooting Already Done:
- Verified that inbound MMS are not going to the online album
- It can send just fine
- If I send to 222 it shows up in my Tmobile album (tried multiple times)
- If I send to myself it is never received (tried multiple times)
- Many battery pulls
- Moved SIM to 8120 and MMS received fine
- Reloaded with .174 OS, reactivated, still does not work
- Called Tmobile, they re-provisioned the service
- Changed APN from epc.tmobile.com to wap.voicestream.com

If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Thanks

My first thought was service books... have you tried deleting the MMS Config service book manually and have them resent from tmo (or via Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Register Now)? Perhaps its screwed which is why MMS are received fine on your 8120.

IŽd also check MMS settings in Options just to be sure (MM Reception, Automatic Retrieval and Msg Filtering)

GL you two!

Hi guys, my thread posted yesterday has a similar vein to it. Orange UK are aware as are RIM that MMS does not work 100% of the time. It is better via UMA but thats not the answer we need.
On the RIM troubleshoot page their is an acknowledgement that there is an issue with MMS and they are trying to correct it....

Deleted service book, re-registered on the network. Even reactivated on the BES after a wipe and all no luck. Tmobile customer service...no good

Tech support Orange UK are baffled and after 4 in-depth phone calls from their side and attempts at problem solving they have shipped out another replacement handset by courier. Del within 12 hrs.. They are organising a return envelope for me to use to send this handset to their tech ctr for closer analysis. Lets hope handset number 3 is 100% !!!!
The thing is my partners 8900 has the exact same problem!!!! So she will have to escalate the problem also.

Normally MMS is network-dependent (service books are sent by providers)...
don't believe that the device is the culprit.

edit: maybe your provider supports mms2email service (mms redirection) which might be a workaround

Found my problem. WAP Push was turned OFF in Options-Advanced-Browser Push. Somehow this is needed for MMS to be received. I believe I had turned it off when traveling internationally to make sure I was not being hit with push items and roaming data charges.

I have the problem with sending/receiving MMS. I am able only save to drafts. I tried:
-reset BB 8900
- registration in host routing table
- delete and undelete the MMS client in Service book
- call to provider hotline (telefonica (o2))

I have no black.internet service nor BES. Only data package. Gmail in java works well, Opera mini too. Only MMS are problem.
I have manual configuration available from provider (IP gateway, port, homepage), but I don't know, where to set up this...
Could you help me please?

It is definitely not a handset problem. I am on my 4th 8900 because of this MMS fault and could carry on replacing them forever. There is definitely a problem somwhere with the account configuration settings that our provider holds for us IMO.
I have had sooooooo many wasted phonecalls and received soooooo many calls from the most senior techs at both Orange and Blackberry that I'm contemplating leaving Orange UK and going to Vodafone (when 8900 is avail) and trying their service !!!
BTW .... Your 8900 will probably send MMS pictures via UMA. Not that that's the answer!

If T-Mobile, send a picture via MMS to 222. Go to t-mobilepictures(dot)com and accept the terms and conditions of the alubm. That should get you started.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! Finally Fixed!! I too had this problem, and when I enabled WAP Push, it worked immediately. After 2 8900s, countless calls to T-Mobile and RIM, this simple switch fixed everything. Andrew
