Dear members, I bought a BB Bold 9700, but I am unable to sync contacts, tasks, etc via Bluetooth with my Macbook Pro. I know that the macbook is ok because It used to sync smoothly with my previous Nokia E71. I have followed the instructions. I have paired the bold 9700 with my mac. Switched Bluetooth on and off, Re-paired the bold 9700, etc. When I connect the bold 9700 via Bluetooth, it does not last and disconnects itself. When I connect the bold 9700 and open the blackberry device manager, the sync option is in grey.
I would be grateful if you could possibly help me.
The bluetooth service "Desktop Connectivity Service" needs to be enabled for you to sync via bluetooth on any PC or Mac. This has to be enabled as an IT policy by your BES administrator. You can see if it is or isn't by going to bluetooth options and scrolling down to see what options are enabled on your phone. Desktop Connectivity Service is under the 'Serial Port Profile" options. If it is not enabled, you will see it but it will be greyed out and you can't select it. For reasons unknown, most BES administrators have this disabled. Also, despite the fact that this takes 30 seconds to change on the BES, most administrators won't do it. Many appear to not even know about its existence if you ask them about it.
If Desktop Connectivity Service is not enabled, you can still pair your BB with your computer, but it won't be detected by BlackBerry Desktop Manager and you won't be able to do anything with it.
